The Opal pendant light is part of the Opal lighting series designed in the 1950s by Danish designer Svend Aage Holm-Sørensen, who has gained international recognition for his many beautiful designs. Holm-Sørensen had a special eye for the potential of different materials and therefore used opal glass as the focal point of the entire lamp series. Opal glass has the unconditional advantage that it gives the light a particularly warm glow and spreads it out in a soft and glare-free glow. The Opal series is divided into three groups: Opal Arch, where the glass is voluminously shaped and forms the centre of the shade, while the top and bottom are fitted with metal elements in a ribbed structure that makes the lamp resemble a lantern. Opal Lamella, where the metal encloses the glass shade so that the light shines beautifully through the lamellae that run along the lampshade. And Opal Shade, where the glass is complemented by a regular lampshade for a more classic look. All three come in a selection of beautiful colours. See them all here.
