The lamp was designed by bill curry, best known for his iconic stemlite.

The original drawings for obello date from 1970 – and you can sense the then american forward-looking zeitgeist of huge technological advances, computers and moon landings that would have certainly felt science fictional in its time when you see the mushroom-like shape of the lamp.
